She returned to Calgary in 2006 from Australia where she had been continuing her studies in physiotherapy researching neck pain and spinal stability. Mehwa has been working in a variety of hospital, private practice, sports medicine and university settings in Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia for the last 13 years. Although Mehwa sees a variety of dysfunctions and injuries in a wide range of clientele, her major areas of interest are spinal problems and core stabilization, sporting injuries and correction of muscle imbalances. A large part of her practice now at Innovative Health is working with individuals in a primary active component to retrain muscles functionally and competitively on the gym floor. She believes it has been a key component in getting the injured weekend warrior, elite athlete, active housewife or ultra-busy business executive back to functional activities as well as competitive sporting events. She believes a primary component of physiotherapy is education and physical activity.
Mehwa keeps busy all year round working with rugby teams in the summer and participating herself in a variety of sports such as tennis, running, volleyball, hiking, and cycling.
